For bid, site and design teams who need more than a video

Bespoke interactive applications in Unreal Engine and Unity

Interactive tools built for your project in Unreal Engine or Unity: 4D viewers and dashboards, VR and AR walkthroughs, site inductions and rehearsals of critical operations.

Tools that play a construction programme or rehearse a sequence of works, such as a heavy lift, are for projects in the Gulf, continental Europe and North America. VR walkthroughs, inductions and design reviews have no regional limit.

Illustration: a crane lift rehearsed in an interactive tool A fictional building with four complete levels and one in progress. A tower crane carries a beam from the laydown area to level 5 over a hatched exclusion zone, and a control bar steps through the lift, at step 3 of 7. What I build

When a video is not enough, I build the tool itself: a 4D viewer or dashboard your bid and site teams can step through, a VR or AR walkthrough of a sequence or a temporary works scheme, a site induction or safety briefing in VR, or a rehearsal of a heavy lift or a crane plan. Each one is built for your project and for the hardware it will run on, from a Windows PC to a Meta Quest headset.

  • Interactive 4D viewers and dashboards for bid and site teams

Step through the programme by date, stop on any week and look around: what is built, what is in progress and what comes next. For a bid team at interview, or a site team planning the weeks ahead.

  • VR and AR walkthroughs of sequences, logistics and temporary works

Walk a logistics route, stand inside a temporary works scheme at full scale, or watch a sequence build up around you, in a headset in the office or on site.

  • Site inductions and safety briefings in VR

New starters walk the site before their first shift: access routes, welfare facilities, exclusion zones and emergency routes, in the order your induction covers them. Every person gets the same briefing.

  • Digital rehearsals of critical operations, such as heavy lifts and crane plans

Go through a heavy lift, a crane plan or a difficult installation step by step with the people who will do it: the load path, the exclusion zone and who stands where, before the day.

  • Design review tools

Put a design in front of the people who will build and use it, at full scale on a screen or in a headset, so the comments come while changes are still cheap.

Where I take this work

Tools that play a construction programme or rehearse a sequence of works, such as a lift, are 4D work: I take them on for projects in the Gulf, continental Europe and North America. VR walkthroughs, site inductions and design review tools that do not play a programme have no regional limit.

  • For projects in the Gulf, continental Europe and North America

Plays the programme or a sequence of works

    • Interactive 4D viewers and dashboards
    • VR and AR walkthroughs of a construction sequence
    • Rehearsals of heavy lifts and crane plans
  • No regional limit

    Does not play a programme

    • VR walkthroughs of a design or a site layout
    • Site inductions and safety briefings in VR
    • Design review tools

Not sure which side your project falls on? Describe it in your enquiry and I will tell you on the call.

Built for the hardware your team has

Tell me what your team already uses. I build for it, and the proposal names the devices each build must run on.

  • Windows PC

A ready-to-run build for a meeting room screen, a laptop or a site cabin PC. It runs on its own, without Unreal Engine or Unity installed.

  • PC VR

A headset connected to a Windows PC, for large and detailed models that need the power of a desktop graphics card.

  • Meta Quest

A standalone headset with no PC or cable, so the build travels to site, to the induction room or to a client meeting. AR uses the headset’s passthrough cameras.

What you receive

Deliverables

  • A working application for a Windows PC, PC VR or Meta Quest, as set in the proposal
  • A build to try at each milestone, so your team can steer while changes are cheap
  • Short notes on how to install and run it
  • The project files, where the proposal includes them
Typical timeline
A focused tool, such as a VR walkthrough of one sequence or a site induction, usually takes 3 to 6 weeks. A 4D viewer or dashboard for a bid or site team usually takes 6 to 12 weeks. The proposal splits the work into milestones, each with a build you can try.
Tools
Unreal Engine 5, Unity, Meta Quest and IFC

Best unity developer I ever worked with.

What I need from you

Send what you have before the call. The timeline in the proposal starts when the complete files arrive.

  • What the tool is for, who will use it, and where: a meeting room, a site cabin or a headset
  • The model: IFC (preferred), FBX, SketchUp, Rhino or Datasmith exports. Working in Revit® or Navisworks®? Export IFC or FBX
  • For anything that plays the build: the programme, from Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject or a CSV export
  • The hardware it must run on: a Windows PC, a PC VR headset or Meta Quest
  • Site information, method statements or lift plans, where the tool rehearses an operation

Sending files

A link to a shared folder works best, so nothing bounces off an email size limit.

No files yet? Tell me who will use the tool, where and on what hardware. That is enough for the call, and the model can follow.

Working rules

  • A build to try at each milestone

The proposal splits the work into milestones. At each one you get a build to run on your own hardware, so your team can steer while changes are still cheap.

  • Honest about what will run

Heavy BIM models need simplifying before they run well, above all on a standalone headset. Send a sample and I tell you what is realistic before you commit.

  • Source on request

The Unreal Engine or Unity project can be part of the handover. Ask for it before the proposal and it is included, organised so your team or another developer can carry on.

  • Confidential from the first file

Only I see your model, plans and method statements. Nothing made from them is shown anywhere, this website included, without your written permission.

  • One person, start to finish

I build every part myself, from the first prototype to the final build. No hand-offs and no subcontractors.

Questions

Unreal Engine or Unity: which do you use?

Whichever suits the job. Unreal Engine for detailed viewers on a PC and large models; Unity for standalone VR on Meta Quest, where every frame counts. I recommend one on the call, with the reason, and you decide.

Which headsets and devices do you build for?

Windows PCs and PC VR headsets, and Meta Quest 3, 3S and 2 as standalone headsets. AR walkthroughs use the passthrough cameras on Meta Quest 3 and 3S. Tell me what your team already has and I build for it.

Will our BIM model run in VR?

Usually, after optimising. Heavy BIM models need simplifying for a standalone headset. Send a sample before the call and I will tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.

Can you work on our existing Unreal Engine or Unity project?

Yes. Send the project and a short note on what it should do next, and I will look at it before the call.

What do we receive at the end?

The builds for the devices set in the proposal, with short notes on how to install and run them, and the project files where the proposal includes them, so your team or another developer can carry on later.

Which projects do you take on?

Tools that play a construction programme or rehearse a sequence of works, such as a heavy lift or a crane plan, are for projects in the Gulf, continental Europe and North America. VR walkthroughs, site inductions and design review tools that do not play a programme have no regional limit.

Need more than a video?
